Exponentionally!! (Is that the right word I'm looking for? lol!) I mean we have grown considerably today....and it wasn't even on the game plan. Isn't that the way it happens though? You go out to lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon with your husband and four children in hand and you see a pet store out of the corner of your eye. You think to yourself "oh we should go there after lunch" just as your husband says "we should go there after lunch."
So after our nice leisurely lunch (to which we had a great compliment paid to us...a woman came over to our table and said "I just have to tell you that you have a wonderful family here. My mom and I have been watching you for awhile and we can't believe that all three of your children are sitting on the same side of the booth and there isn't a peep out of them. It is so great to see a family that is so happy and well behaved in this day." Now wasn't that nice?) Oops...where was I? Oh yeah...after our lunch we went to Petsmart for the sole purpose of buying our very good friend a $10 gift card because our children broke a clock at his house this past weekend...who said our children were so well behaved? We walked around and looked at the fish, mice, birds, cats, frogs and the hermit crabs. We walked and talked and discussed a certain little creature with the sales associate. We decided to think on it.....and left for the mall.
Alas, we returned to Petsmart and our family of 7 (including Jack the fish that resides in Ethan's room) is now a family of 11! We are the proud parents of four hermit crabs! Oh yes, we've been discussing hermit crabs for quite some time now. A friend of mine adopted a hermit crab of her own and highly encouraged me to do the same. Of course, I can't do things on a small scale, oh no never....so we have four little hermit crabs......Gus, Stripes, Tank and most appropriately, Crabby. They are wonderful little guys (or gals....which makes me wonder...will we end up with more little crabs? AIYA! Didn't think of asking that one!)
The kids are very pleased with their new pets, errrr, family members. They give them quite a bit of attention already...though these little creatures sure sleep a lot. Oh well. Their home is very content and happy with a climbing wall, little hideouts, a bathtub and nummy food. We hope they enjoy the remainder of their lives with us. Cross your fingers for longevity, please!
